The independent film distribution and marketing landscape is constantly evolving and writer/director Liz Manashil has been at the forefront of the industry, as a filmmaker, distributor, and by collecting and analyzing data in order to empower filmmakers.
Join Liz, the Senior Manager of Impact Distribution at Picture Motion and former Manager of Sundance Institute’s Creative Distribution Initiative, as she shares her expertise and perspective, walking participants through the changes and opportunities of creative and impact distribution. This workshop is essential for filmmakers navigating festival, marketing, and distribution opportunities for themselves and their projects.
Liz will join us virtually and the workshop will be facilitated by Katy Evans.

Liz Manashil earned her B.A. in Film and Media Studies at Washington University in St. Louis, and her M.F.A. from USC's School of Cinematic Arts. Post graduation, Liz spent several years as a film critic for the PBS/Hulu series JUST SEEN IT which she also helped produce and direct. Overlapping this, Liz worked with distribution guru Peter Broderick. Her debut feature, BREAD AND BUTTER was released by The Orchard and can be seen on VOD nearly everywhere (including Hulu!).
Liz is currently touring festivals with her 2nd feature film, SPEED OF LIFE, and in development on her third, LADY PARTS. She lives in Los Angeles with her dog, Laura Palmer, and her partner, Sean Wright. She was the Manager of Sundance Institute’s Creative Distribution Initiative and has just transitioned to a new job as Senior Manager, Impact Distribution at Picture Motion.
