Annual membership at The Grand is $45 for individuals, $80 for joint accounts (any two people who want to share an account), and continues to higher levels. Your membership entitles you to all sorts of perks, and our gratitude for helping to keep the nonprofit Grand Cinema's doors open and the movies playing.
Perks of Membership include:
· Five Dollar Member Mondays (starting August 1, 2016)
· $2.50 admissions savings at all regular screenings (regular admission prices are $10 General Admission, $8 Matinee)
· FREE small popcorn at each visit (or discounts when upgrading to a larger size)
· Discounted admission for special events
· Free Member Movie Days (at least one per year)
· Free parking in our members-only lot (first come, first served)
· Discounts at local partnering businesses (find a list here)
· Eligibility for voting and running for The Grand Cinema Board of Directors
· Tax deductions: some or all of your membership fee may be tax deductible
WHAT OUR Members HAVE TO SAY
In addition to all the tangible perks of membership, our members also share a sense of community and pride in supporting independent film at Pierce County's only nonprofit arthouse cinema. We reached out to a couple of our members to ask why they choose to support The Grand:
Wade, one of our early supporters, former board members, and now full time Assistant Executive Director said: "I have loved The Grand since practically the day it opened. I was a huge film buff and used to have to trek to Seattle or Olympia to see arthouse films on the big screen before The Grand came along. To me The Grand is more than a movie theater - it is Tacoma's temple to film. It attracts thoughtful and engaged audiences who want more from film than just entertainment - they want to be moved, delighted, consoled, and inspired. I am dedicated to helping keep The Grand healthy and broaden what it can do in the community."
Keyrn, a local real-estate broker and Tacoma enthusiast, told us: "Besides the obvious perks associated with being a member, like free popcorn, discounted upgrades & ticket prices, I choose to be a member because The Grand Cinema adds so much value to Tacoma. Not just in the quality films that they choose to play, but also with the community events and discussions they host. The Grand Cinema is a great place to see movies and connect with folks in our community."
Troy, member and current Board of Directors secretary says he appreciates benefits like "discounted tickets, free popcorn, and first chance at special events to name a few. But what really makes me feel good about supporting the Grand Cinema through my membership is the outstanding programs like the Tacoma Film Festival, exposure to filmmakers, and the youth film camp. If your membership has expired or if you have never been a member, you can join or renew today online. You’ll receive a membership card in the mail to present to our staff and volunteers to receive your benefits and discounts. At your first visit we’ll issue you a parking pass to access our members-only lot (first come, first served).
