Celebrate the most acclaimed films of the year in style at annual Film Awards Party.

The Grand brings the glamour of the Oscars ceremony to downtown Tacoma with paparazzi greeting guests on the red carpet, professional photos taken with award trophies, audience forecast voting, giveaways, and hosted entertainment by local personalities. Although we will be watching the Oscars on the big screen, this event is not sponsored by or affiliated with The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Watch a live cast of the 90th Academy Awards with your community on the big screen at the Theatre on the Square -- Sunday, March 4, 2018.

Featuring a no-host bar, raffle prizes, and silent auction. All event proceeds will support operations and programs at The Grand.

Suggested Attire & Costume contest

Guests are encouraged to wear festive attire or participate in the costume contest by dressing as their favorite character from a film - it can be a recent film or one of your all time favorite characters from any movie! 

Costume Contest participants will be called to the stage during breaks in the ceremony. Favorites will be selected by audience applause with the help of our handy "Applause-O-Meter." 

Prizes will be awarded to several audience favorites:

predict the winners / Golden Ticket Contest

Enter to win free movies for a year at The Grand when you complete a ballot predicting Oscar winners for 2017. The person who correctly guesses the most Oscar winners will receive our Golden Ticket which provides free movies for a year for one person to the pass-holder.

Eats & Treats

Bring cash or card to enjoy a variety of locally made treats from the concessions bar throughout the night.

Located at 915 Broadway, the Theatre on the Square is just a few blocks down the hill from The Grand.

Limited on-street parking will be available. Several paid parking garages are available within a short walk of the Theatre on the Square including the Park Plaza North Garage (923 Commerce Street), Subway Lot (916 Broadway Street), and the Rialto Garage (909 Market Street -- cash only).
