<div><div>We’re up to our ears in superhero origin stories. But there’s a new hero in town, and he’s a punk kid named Ricardo (Ramon Galvez) who lives in suburban Chile with his grandma. After endless nights of hitting up warehouse shows and scrounging up money with his friends to purchase the cheapest alcohol possible to get them loaded, he finds a bottle of unknown origin in the piss corner of a show and takes a swig. Suddenly, he’s gained superstrength and begins beating people’s asses in the street. But soon, his down and dirty antics take him from local vigilante to national hero to enemy of a grand international government conspiracy. By the time the closing credits roll over a ferocious mosh pit, this underdog from the barrio has taken on the world, a kaiju or two, and imperialism itself. All while completely shitfaced.</div><div> </div><div>Debut filmmaker Diego “Mapache” Fuentes only needs 65 raucous minutes to melt your face off, as if he’s playing the most righteous, propulsive power chord in the world. With a mixed-media, graffiti-infested, printed-on-Xerox black-and-white aesthetic that gives the film its tactile, lo-fi nature, this live-action punk zine is an absurdist breath of fresh air.
