<div>SCIENCE ON SCREEN presentation before the film presented by Tom Koontz, professor of Elemental Policy at UWT. <br>The scientific consensus is that climate change is real and we are already seeing its harmful effects.  Yet US. Federal climate policy is not in place to address it.  What causes the gap between science and policy? How has climate change become such a politically polarized issue, and what can we do to fix it?  This talk will describe how “merchants of doubt” have used litigation, misinformation, and personal attacks on climate scientists to shape public opinion and debates about climate policy.  By reframing climate change to connect it to widely shared values, we might cross the partisan divide and generate solutions.  And in our federal system, local action is leading the way.</div><div><br></div><div>About the Movie:</div>Two astronomers go on a media tour to warn humankind of a planet-killing comet hurtling toward Earth.
