Out of all the events The Grand presents, the annual Film Awards Party is my absolute favorite of the year. (You might be able to tell since I woke up at 5 am to see the nominations announced - proof here!)
The red carpet, the glamour, the suspense - what more could you possibly want?
While there are close to a million reasons why you should take part in this event, here are my Top 5:
Reason #1: Playing Dress Up
How often do we get the chance to dress up in our most elegant attire? Not enough, in my opinion! The Film Awards Party is a great excuse to get out those gowns and tuxedos you have lying around all year and put them to use!
Better yet, you can come dressed as a character from your favorite film of the year and participate in the costume contest--even better yet, bring friends and create an awesome group costume!
Determined by fellow audience members, best costume will win a prize valued at $100, while a runner-up will win a prize valued at $50 - ooh, aah!
(Don't let costume pressure scare you away - while dressing up is encouraged, it is not required.)
Reason #2: The Silent Auction and DRAWING Prizes
Thanks to incredible donors and supporters, the Film Awards Party always features fantastic silent auction items that you do not want to miss out on, in addition to fabulous drawing prizes announced throughout the night!
All proceeds will go towards supporting Grand Cinema and necessary in-theater sound system updates. Winning fabulous prizes AND supporting local film while doing it - what could be better?
Reason #3: Oscar Predictions
Test your knowledge of films from 2015 and make predictions as to what film will win which category.
Attendees receive a ballot to fill out their Oscar predictions for every category (Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Screenplay, etc.) and turn it in before the show begins. Keep your fingers crossed that the Academy's choices match up with yours because the grand prize for the most accurate prediction is-drum roll, please. Reason #4: Red Carpet and Paparazzi
Strut into the Theatre on the Square in style with a walk across the red carpet with paparazzi attempting to capture photos of famed folks from the City of Destiny.
Once inside the event, there are plenty of photo opportunities for you and friends to capture the night. Strike a pose with our real 24-karat gold...looking--Oscar statue trophy, or flash a smile with any of the other props that will be available!
And, of course, you are welcome to snap a few of your own photos during the event - post them to social media with the hashtag #TGCOscars and make all your friends and family jealous! Photos from the event will be posted on The Grand Cinema�s Facebook page following the event, so you will be able to share those photos as well!
Reason #5: Fabulous Viewing Options
The Grand offers two great viewing options for you to choose from!
Option #1, General Admission. General Admission gets you red carpet entry to the event PLUS access to the silent auction and raffle entries, and food, beverages and alcoholic beverages available to you for purchase at all times during the event! Sounds like a great time, right?
Option #2, VIP Admission, is SOLD OUT! Just grab your tickets quick next year so you can enjoy the private viewing room and dining area (with access to sit in the main viewing theater) and a full catered meal PLUS an auction items and two complimentary alcoholic beverages.
