CAST: Various DIRECTOR: Various SPECIAL SCREENING - ONE DAY ONLY

The Women's Adventure Film Tour has arrived in the USA for the first time ever and is in Tacoma for ONE NIGHT ONLY on Thursday, March 7, 2019! This tour is a celebration of the fantastic women around us who are doing extraordinary things. The films are to be enjoyed by women and men of all ages!

The event features an all new set of 9 short films including the local premiere of Katie Walsh's film, Surfing to Cope about American pro surfer Brianna Cope. You'll also experience climbing, skiing, mountaineering, snowboarding and travel films from all over the world.

The Women's Adventure Film Tour was launched in to a sell-out crowd in Sydney in May 2017 and has since grown to become a success throughout Australia, Asia, Canada and the UK. We are very pleased to have brought the tour to North America for the first time beginning in September 2018.

Being adventurous doesn’t always have to mean being the fastest, going the highest or doing the most extreme things. Adventure for the most of us is stepping outside our comfort zone and climbing our own personal Everest.

Our selection of unique films have been carefully chosen to show awesome women achieving their adventurous goals. The films showcase real stories about women from a variety of cultures and sports around the world. So bring your adventurous family, friends, girlfriends, partners and children to celebrate with us adventurous women!

The WOMEN'S ADVENTURE FILM TOUR is presented in the USA for the benefit of Changing Tides Foundation. It is supported by Hydro Flask, Mountain Khakis, CLIF Bar, The Inertia, RECOVER, Eco-Products, Great Outdoor Provision Co. and AndShesDopeToo.

Globally the tour is presented with She Went Wild, a hub for adventurous women.

FILMS

MOKSHA: (Mountain Biking) USA- 26 min.
Moksha is a film that follows three Nepali women who have dedicated themselves to spreading the joy that mountain biking can give to women across the Himalayas. Follow these young women as they compete in mountain bike races across the Asian continent, claim titles as the first female MBLA certified mountain bike guides in Nepal, and most importantly witness the impact these women leave as role models for other Nepali women and girls. This authentic and moving film shows their balance of adventure with cultural and family obligations while pushing for a much more gender and socially equitable society in their home country.

PERSIAN POWDER: (Snowboarding)- Belgium- 13 min.
Take a cultural journey with us as we profile professional snowboarder, Mona Seraji, plying her trade in her home mountains of Iran. Haunting music accompanies this unique glimpse into a little-known, winter playground for skiers and sliders alike.

DISCOVERING ADVENTURE: (Family Adventuring) Norway- 11 min.
Discovering Adventure is a film project documenting a 5-year old girl, Isabelle, traveling with her family to Norway on her biggest adventure yet. Along the way she's learning the skills to be an explorer and adventurer, but most importantly she's learning about herself. With her father Tim who's also a professional paragliding pilot, and down-to-earth mom, Maile, the family set sail into the Arctic Circle in search of a winter wonderland to sail, fly, camp, ski and explore together.

FINDING THE LINE: (Skiing) Australia- 15 min.
A film about fear, its paralyzing grip on humans and how it affects our decision-making. In this documentary film, Olympian and X Games Slopestyle champion Anna Segal and her Freeride World Tour, big mountain skiing sister, Nat Segal, use their skiing to understand fear and how it manifests in the two siblings’ lives.

SURFING TO COPE: (Surfing) USA- 26 min.
Take a quick look at Brianna Cope and you’ll see a girl who has it all: beauty, athleticism, an idyllic life in Hawaii and the chance to be the best in her sport. While all of this is true, there is more to Brianna Cope. Follow Brianna’s attempt to make the WCT while coming to terms with a physical challenge that has shaped her life.

KATIE: (Tribute to Katie Lee) USA- 10 min.
“Katie Lee speaks for the canyons and the sweet desert recesses. She is our foul-mouthed, lightning-eyed, boot-stomping balladeer, a character Louis L’Amour never could have invented. Born from the rock itself, she is a lifetime of experience on this wild, restless, cradling ground. If you want to know this place, you need to know Katie,” – Craig Childs, The Apocalyptic Planet, The Secret Knowledge of Water, etc.) From award-winning director of Damnation, Ben Knight, this 10 minute tribute to one of the most amazing adventurer/activists to ever grace the waters of the Glen Canyon will have you laughing, crying and longing for the good ol' days prior to man-made "advances". (Katie’s natural style is exhibited in all its glory in this film, and therefore contains adult language and archival nudity).
