The Most Dangerous Year

The Most Dangerous Year
Documentary | 2019 | NR. 1hr 30min
CAST: Huddle Morris Blakefield, Joe Fain, Cyrus Habib DIRECTOR: Vlada Knowlton TUESDAY FILM SERIES

As a dark wave of anti-transgender "bathroom bills" began sweeping across the nation, The Human Rights Campaign called 2016 the most dangerous year ever for transgender Americans. Filmmaker Vlada Knowlton captured the ensuing civil rights battle from the perspective of a group of embattled parents -- including herself and her husband, parents of a young trans girl -- fighting to protect their children from discriminatory laws in their home state. While Knowlton passionately follows the story of anti-transgender legislation, the heart of the film lies in the stories of the families who accept and support their kids for exactly who they are.

Join filmmaker Vlada Knowlton and Lisa Keating (My Purple Umbrella) after the 7pm screening for a panel discussion!

Reviews
The Most Dangerous Year excels in doing what great politically-charged pieces of art often do. (Director Vlada) Knowlton centers us, grabs our focus, and makes us listen.
Michael Ward, Should I See It
Capturing the perspective from families with transgender children, The Most Dangerous Year is a compelling documentary showing that transgender rights matter.
