Pink Flamingos

Pink Flamingos
Comedy, Crime | 1972 | NC-17. 1hr 33min
CAST: Divine, David Lochary, Mary Vivian Pearce DIRECTOR: John Waters WEIRD ELEPHANT SERIES

Notorious Baltimore criminal and underground figure Divine goes up against a sleazy married couple who make a passionate attempt to humiliate her and seize her tabloid-given title as "The Filthiest Person Alive".

I am not giving a star rating to Pink Flamingos, because stars simply seem not to apply. It should be considered not as a film but as a fact, or perhaps as an object.
Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times
But what made Waters unique was the joyous quality of his work, the wicked delight he took in trashy obscenity.
Beth Accomando,
This bad-taste comedy put John Waters on the map as the prophet of low budget, trashy but signficant indie films.
