ONE NIGHT ONLY: The Grand Cinema partners with eTc and the Tacoma Surf Club to present an all-ages film screening of the new documentary FRESH DRESSED followed by a panel discussion and mixer.

FRESH DRESSED offers a fascinating glimpse inside the complex relationship between fashion and hip-hop, and the hustle and swagger that brought baggy pants and graffiti-drenched jackets from the streets to high fashion catwalks and Middle American shopping malls. Director Sacha Jenkins draws from a rich mix of archival materials from the 70s, 80s and 90s and present day in-depth interviews with more than 70 music and fashion industry luminaries including: Pharrell Williams, Kanye West, Nasir Jones, Dapper Dan, and AndrĂ© Leon Talley. The result is FRESH DRESSED, a passionate re-telling of the evolution of hip hop culture from the South Bronx to Paris Fashion Week.

Following the screening, hear from designers and creatives, and learn how their inspirations connect to the history of hip-hop and fashion.

Panelists include brand designers and creative directors Trina Monica, Dion Thomas of Gallery of Ambition, Perris Wright and Umi Wagoner of eTc, Silong Chhun of Red Scarf Revolution, and Jason Gamboa of Tacoma Apparel Co.

Stay for a mixer featuring DJ Sean the Shaman and talk one-on-one with designers and creatives, and entrepreneurs.

Reviews
A snazzy docu portrait of hip-hop's influence on the fashion world.
Geoff Berkshire, Variety
Fashion is about that clash between commercialism and individuality -- how can I stand out while fitting in? -- and Sacha Jenkins's streetwear doc nods its Kangol hat to that irony.
