DIRECTOR: Matthew Wade TACOMA FILM FESTIVAL | PRESENTED BY WEIRD ELEPHANT

Two scientists come into possession of their recently-deceased professor’s set of cassette tapes, thought to contain recordings of signals from beyond the stars. As the former classmates dig into the recordings, they begin to feel memory, time and their identities slip into obscurity.

An experiment in steam-of-conscious narrative filmmaking, A Black Rift Begins to Yawn is a tone poem spouting from the dark forest floors of the Pacific Northwest.

Matthew Wade is a filmmaker, animator, artist and composer. He has worked as a freelance commercial animator in LA for numerous international brands. Matthew’s films have screened in dozens of film festivals, art galleries, and universities around the world. He lives with his wife/producing partner, Sara Lynch, and their cats in rural Oregon.
