Film Discussion - Dawson City: Frozen Time

August 22nd 6:15pm

Dawson-City-2017

Join us for a discussion of Dawson City: Frozen Time on Tuesday, August 22, following the 6:15 p.m. screening with Mick Flaaen and Michael Sullivan.

Mick Flaaen is an independent filmmaker and visual artist from Tacoma WA. Mick studied Art/Film Studies at UW-Tacoma. His film credits include Welcome to Parkland, Paint, A Funeral Dance and A Totem Tale. In 2015 Mick was part of the team that helped preserve and restore Tacoma's lost nitrate film, Eyes of the Totem.

Michael Sullivan is a writer, preservationist, public historian and creator of the popular TACOMAHISTORY.LIVE blog. He has been teaching Pacific Northwest History courses focused on the South Sound at UWT for more than 20 years. Along with the rest of Team Totem, he was part of the effort to restore and reshow the silent film Eyes of the Totem in Tacoma where it was made at Weaver Studios in 1926.

Held in our lower lobby, film discussions at The Grand Cinema offer audience members the opportunity to discuss new films and expand their movie-going experience beyond the screen in a welcoming environment. Look for new discussions every week.
