We are excited to announce that The Grand Cinema, Pierce County's only nonprofit center for film and film education, is raising $5 million to buy our building at Sixth and Fawcett!

We've called the Merlino Arts Center home since we were founded in 1997. For nearly three decades it has housed film screenings, festivals and competitions, Oscar parties, director Q&A's, private gatherings, and so much more.

But beyond that, the Merlino is home to dancers, bakers, artists and many more. This is an important project for all who call The Merlino Arts Center home.

We want The Grand to remain an anchor in Tacoma's arts community and preserve the future of the Merlino as a hub for creators. With the building for sale, it is important for The Grand to take advantage of this opportunity to control our long-term destiny. We have until the middle of 2025 to complete this process, and we will have much more information coming your way soon.
