At the center of the festival excitement!
Welcome to the 2012 Tacoma Film Festival volunteer page! TFF simply can not operate and flourish without the support of our volunteers. The Tacoma Film Festival is the biggest film party in town, and with nearly 2,000 movie-goers in 2011 attending films and parties, and around 50 filmmakers attending, our staff of 10 people needs the support, energy, and time of some very special volunteers. Anyone can volunteer, from students to Grand Cinema members, from Tacoma  natives to those new to the area, and from Festival Passholders to Grand Cinema volunteers! Besides the great benefit of meeting new people that share your love of film, you will gain a greater sense of community and connection to current works of quality film and the filmmakers that create them. Join us October 4-11 in celebrating independent film and providing an unforgettable experience for our filmmakers and audiences alike. See specific volunteer positions and benefits below. We are no longer accepting volunteer applications for the 2012 Tacoma Film Festival. Check back next summer for opportunities for the 2013 fest!

Registration & Will Call
    • Check in filmmakers, industry members and pass holders; hand out swag bags to appropriate guests
    • Greet advance-ticket holders and check them off will call list
    • Direct guests and film-goers to appropriate film and event venues and theaters
    • Provide superior customer service and promote TFF!
    • Sell TFF merchandise

      Transportation 
        • Transport filmmakers and/or TFF guests to and from the airport
        • Must have valid drivers' license and insurance, as well as personal cell phone
        • Provide a great first impression of TFF for our special guests. Make them feel at home!
        • Can you provide lodging for one or more filmmakers? Let us know!

          Theater Manager
            • Take tickets for TFF films at the Grand Cinema
            • Usher and direct guests to appropriate theaters/venues
            • Clean TFF theaters
            • Assure that films are playing correctly
            • Introduce filmmaker Q&As when appropriate
            • Includes viewing films!

            Venue Manager
            • Oversee operations at satellite venues (i.e. Tacoma Art Museum, School of the Arts), including: 
            • Ticket and merchandise sales
            • Assurance that films are playing correctly
            • Theater clean-up
            • Filmmaker Q&A introductions
            • Includes viewing films!

            Event Crew
            • Set up and break down for special events (including Opening & Closing Night)
            • Sell and serve food and drinks

            Back-Up/On-Call
            • Sub for any volunteer area when a shift opens up last minute
            • Be available for one full day of the festival (more information on specific times coming soon)
            • Includes viewing films!

            Program and poster distribution
            • Distribute TFF programs and/or posters in your neighborhood. It can be as simple as taking a couple bundles to your favorite coffee shop!
            • Help get the word out about TFF

            TFF volunteers receive passes, TFF swag, snacks and water, discounted tickets, and more, based on the number of hours worked. More information coming soon!
