See what our alumni are saying about TFF!

Screening at the Tacoma Film Festival was a highlight of my film festival experience.  It's a festival that celebrates films and takes care of its filmmakers.  It brings in wonderful, curious, and questioning audiences. With the Grand Cinema that lives and breathes independent film, fantastic volunteers, the gorgeous city of Tacoma as its backdrop, and the best movie popcorn I've ever had, the Tacoma Film Festival is nothing short of a regional gem.  Long live it! -- Beth Levison, director, LEMON

We had a wonderful experience at the Tacoma Film Festival. The staff and volunteers were friendly and helpful. Our screening sold out and the audience was supportive and enthusiastic. We look forward to coming back to the Grand Cinema again! -- Brian Young, THE MOUNTAIN RUNNERS (TFF '12)

The Tacoma Film Festival has been the happiest surprise of my festival run with Sahkanaga.  The city is alive with artistic energy, and the Grand Cinema is a top-notch institution with beautiful screening rooms and hungry audiences.  You can feel the pulse of independent film through the incisive and refreshing programming, and I wouldn't be surprised if it grows into a major taste-maker in the realm of regional American film festivals, setting the standard that other fests aspire to. - John Henry Summerour, SAHKANAGA (TFF '11)

Our documentary (These Amazing Shadows) has screened at over 30 film festivals this year. It was great to be invited to and screen at the Tacoma Film Festival.  The staff at Tacoma was very friendly and very organized....and very "director-friendly".  We would definitely return.  --Paul Mariano, Gravitas Docufilms, THESE AMAZING SHADOWS

The Tacoma Film Festival was an incredible festival experience for our film, LOSING CONTROL, that I won't soon forget. It is an intimate festival that fosters bonding with fellow filmmakers and creates lasting relationships. The festival did a great job of promoting our film and we had a standing-room-only screening. The local press gave us two must-see reviews and the Grand Cinema and its warm, film-loving staff created a casual and easy environment to network with other filmmakers and get to know our audience. The hospitality was top-notch and we had enough downtime to explore the great gems like the Museum of Glass that Tacoma had to offer. It's definitely a fest I want to go back to soon! -- Valerie Weiss, Director - LOSING CONTROL, '11 TFF Official Selection; Winner - Top Female Filmmaker of 2011 at the Chicago Comedy Film Festival

I was thrilled for my short film, TERREBONNE, to have its NW Premiere at Tacoma.  From the parties to the awesome programming, TFF is quickly becoming a must-stop on festival circuit for filmmakers and filmgoers alike. -- Jeremy Craig, TERREBONNE ('11 TFF Official Selection)

I had a blast at TFF. The programming was top-notch, the film-loving crowds were fantastic and the Grand is a killer venue. It's festivals like TFF that keep indie film culture alive and kicking & I can't wait to return. -- Craig Johnson, TRUE ADOLESCENTS ('10 TFF Closing Night Selection)

My short film SHUFFLE has played at several film festivals, but my personal favorite so far has been the Tacoma Film Festival... What really stood out for me in Tacoma was the programming: it was the best I've seen all year, and I couldn't have been more impressed with the selections; I loved every minute of it and was deeply moved by many of the movies I saw. -- Aron Michael Thompson, SHUFFLE ('10 Best Short Film Winner)

We had an utterly fantastic time at the Tacoma Film Festival. Great programming, enthusiastic audiences and excellent events. We saw great films, met new people and had a whole bucket-full of fun.
