The Meaningful Movies Project assists neighborhoods, groups and individuals organize, educate and advocate using the power of social justice documentary film and relevant conversation to build positive and meaningful community and a more just and peaceful world.
Meaningful Movies Tacoma is our local branch; MMT grew out of the Restore The American Dream (RAD) community activist group seeking non-partisan ways to inspire community conversations. This group of dedicated volunteers joined Meaningful Movies Project to bring provocative documentary films and facilitated discussions to Tacoma residents. Since October 2015 we have engaged more than 3,000 of our neighbors in conversations about issues related to democracy, money in politics, climate change, mass incarceration, immigrants and food justice. Follow MMT on Facebook for updates!
See a Meaningful Movie every fourth Thursday, 6:30 pm at The Grand Cinema. These films are free; tickets are available day-of from the Grand's box office.
MMT screens films at the Grand Cinema February to November. December and January films are screened at Center For Spiritual Living.
