SCIENCE ON SCREEN

An obsessed scientist conducts profane experiments in evolution, eventually establishing himself as the self-styled demigod to a race of mutated, half-human abominations.

Presentation from Peter Wimberger: What do we know about evolution on islands?  And how fast can evolution occur?  In the time that it takes for bacteria to pass through a single generation, we will have a lively discussion covering this ground before embarking for Dr. Moreau’s island laboratory.

Peter Wimberger is an evolutionary biologist and director of the Slater Museum of Natural History at the University of Puget Sound. His research interests are broad and he has worked on organisms ranging from golden rods to ice worms to fish, and from mussels to birds to mountain goats. He will be the first to tell you that this approach is not an evolutionarily stable strategy, but it sure is interesting.
