72-Hour Film Competition

May 10, 2007, 7:00 PM

The Rialto Theater in downtown Tacoma was packed on the night of Thursday, May 10 as Tacoma gathered to cheer on local filmmakers and see over 30 short films. Six awards were given at the end of the evening:

Best Film: Letchworth Road by Isaac Olsen/Kurt Kendall
Audience Choice Award: South 5 by Bryan Johnson
Best Use of Dialogue: The Knitters by Terese Cuff
Best Use of Location: Tintinnabulation by Erik Hanberg
Best Use of Prop: The Tower by Tommy and Don Storslee
Best Use of Action: Tintinnabulation by Erik Hanberg

Teams had one weekend--72 hours--to write, shoot, score and edit their film in order to qualify. They were also required to use the following criteria:

Dialogue: "What we've got here is a failure to communicate."
Prop: a hat or cap
Location: a Tacoma landmark
Action: throwing, tossing or dropping something

Many thanks to the filmmakers for their hard work and creativity. It was a great night of local film, and we are already excited for next year!
