If you've been supporting us for some time you know that we throw a big-to-do Oscar viewing party at Theatre on the Square complete with a costume party, prizes for successful awards predictions, and plenty of food and drink. This year we will be doing all that and more- upgrading everything from the food, to the flair, to the festivities.
You likely know by now that we are in the midst of a monumental fundraising campaign to convert our theaters to digital. If we are unable to evolve with the film industry we will not be able to screen first run films, even from independent studios. That would mean no "Lincoln," no "Beasts of the Southern Wild," no "Best Exotic Marigold Hotel," or any other of our favorite films of the year.
Which is why we thought making this year's Oscars event a "Party and Fundraiser" was a great way to celebrate the year in film and also encourage local film buffs to help us ensure that we can continue to bring the best in show to Tacoma/Pierce County.
We will still have general admission tickets available which will include the usual complimentary snacks and pizza, but the VIP tickets that include a full buffet dinner from Maxwell's, two complimentary drinks, and access to a second viewing area are SOLD OUT.
